Happy Dam
This is an image taken last weekend of a dam on our property. To give you an idea (and The Man will correct me if I am wrong), the far wall of the dam was 6 feet or more shallower than it was before the rains came down. It is so beautiful around this region now, all is green (apart from the paddocks that are currently being sown - but these are already sprouting their crops) and it is so peaceful first thing in the morning and there are loads of birdies about, even kookaburras !

We now have a roof over our heads !
Woo Hoo !!!!!
Things are gonna move now. The aircon man has been waiting for the roofman to do his stuff so he can put up the ducting under cover, now that's possible, and doesn't she look a treat ! The brickies are afraid of clouds so we probably wont see them (also the fact that the only bricking bits left have 12 million cuts and are not straight , ie. around corners - the bay windows). Surprised to see 2 baths installed (one 1800mm spa in the main bathroom and a small corner bath in the ensuite), pity we hadn't noticed before the plumbing was done, how small that bath really is as definitely would have eliminated it to make more room in the ensuite - never mind. Building a new home is something that I would never, ever tackle again. Don't get me wrong, it's exciting, but there are so many things you have to make decisions on by looking at a plan.
We have been planting too !
Six Sugar Gums
Five Fruit trees
Four kinds of vegies (probably more but it doesn't rhyme)
Three rows of strawberries
Two tiny rosemarys
and a great big tub of jonquils
Veggies - broad beans, broccoli, cauliflower, silverbeet, spring onions, garlic chives, peas, beetroot, potatoes
Gotta go, the tap in the shower just fell apart on Tori and the effen Builders haven't plugged back in the power to the water pump so we can have water in the van D'Oh !!!
Ciao

Progress !!!
Bricks ! As you can see, the brickwork is starting again. We are mighty impressed with the bricks we have chosen (they are not the standard rectangle brick, they are more like a tumbled, square brick).

More photos to come (getting better at this everytime !)
We have had just under 180mm of rain since the 10th June, and it stopped on the night/morning of 22nd. So that's 12 days of solid rain and believe me, it's been miserable in the van, so miserable infact, that the Girl and I booked into a motel on the night of the 22nd that had a SPA in it. So we had a night of luxury. Back to reality and at least it's not so wet around here now.

Them thar winders are in ....

Well, things are progressing nicely now. I am in the process of organising ducted Reverse Cycle air conditioning and was very frightened by the price but a blessing came on Friday, the first round of donations from the appeal and this amount will cover this cost. YEE HAA ! I have also organised the OziKleen septic tank system to be delivered next week and have finally chosen tiles for the wet areas of the house (these are incuded in the price of the house, but you can only choose from a limited range). I have decided on a mediterranean (as my friend "pearl" has called them - see below, I still have to work out how to use this picture thingy!!!). I have spoken with the tile man and have decided that I will have the tiles laid how I want them and spend the extra getting what I want ! You may have noticed that "I" have made a few decisions, well, when you are at the coalface, you gotta make the decisions and as I love to interior decorate.....
It is SOOOOOOOOOOO windy here today. The Van is a'rockin'. The Man is on the tractor, I did a couple of laps myself, sowing barley and hoping to have the lupins sown tomorrow, and then finally, wheat. If the weather forecast is any indication, we should be in for a bucket load of rain on Tuesday and although it would be good for me to take a day or two off to help (reload the seed and super unit) it has a twofold effect because we will be flat out at work, dispatching "super" (fertiliser, all the farmers call it super).
Apparently, the brickies are due tomorrow (public holiday Monday???) to start on the obvious and one of the supervisors will be visiting on Tuesday to inspect and spend a bit of time with the Man as he has pointed out a few things he is not happy with. It's good being able to walk through the place and have a good look at the place so we can get right onto it. It helps to think ahead as well to plan what floor coverings etc.
Gotta stop so you actually have time to read it.
